How should I turn contract-review comments into a meeting agenda?
Group your lawyer’s comments by unanswered question and ask which points need explanation before further instructions.
Turn comments into decisions
Keep your lawyer's marked-up draft intact and create a separate agenda referencing its version and clause numbers. Group comments by subject: property identification, payment arrangements, conditions, responsibilities, supporting documents and signing arrangements. Put points that may affect your decision to proceed ahead of stylistic changes.
For each item, state the question, the practical consequence you do not understand and who needs to answer. Distinguish legal advice for your lawyer from technical questions for an engineer and drafting or appointment matters for the notary. Do not convert a caution in the review into an agreed contractual position.
Circulate only the material needed for the meeting through the channel agreed with your lawyer. During the discussion, record decisions, unresolved points and the person responsible for follow-up. Afterwards, ask for confirmation of important advice and check it against the next draft. Meeting notes are useful coordination records, but they should not be treated as automatically amending the contract or authorising signatures.
Practical considerations
- Reference the reviewed draft precisely.
- Prioritise decisions over wording preferences.
- Assign owners to unresolved questions.
