Residency & Relocation

How can a household test its moving checklist before departure?

Walk through a rehearsal day and mark tasks that still depend on an unconfirmed person, delivery or appointment.

Rehearse an ordinary arrival day

Walk through the move from leaving your current home to sleeping in the new one. Ask who carries the documents, handles children or pets, receives keys and deals with a delayed vehicle. Mark every step that depends on someone whose role is not yet confirmed.

Try accessing essential information without your main phone or home internet. Check that another household member can find booking references, trusted contacts and accommodation details. Keep access secure: resilience should not mean circulating passwords or identity documents in an open group chat.

Turn weak points into actions

For each problem, name an owner, a confirmation needed and a workable fallback. Examples include delayed keys, missing baggage, unavailable transport and a shipment arriving before you do. Keep the first-day essentials separate from boxes that may remain in transit.

Review legal and administrative tasks independently of the rehearsal. Immigration rules change and must be checked through official Greek government sources; a convincing practical plan does not confirm lawful residence. Rehearse again after a major change to bookings, household needs or travel arrangements.

Practical considerations

  • Test the entire arrival sequence.
  • Assign owners to unconfirmed tasks.
  • Prepare secure offline access to essentials.
  • Review the plan after major changes.
