Zeus 2 · Family Villa with Its Own Pool

Villa Zeus 2

Family holidays that work · own pool, playground on site, taverna 200 m away

Two en-suite bedrooms, a private pool you can watch from the terrace, and a resort with a playground, a basketball hoop and space to run. Zeus 2 is built for the simple family rhythm: swim, eat, sleep, repeat. The village taverna is a 200 m walk and the beaches and restaurants of Milatos and Sissi are 10–15 minutes away.

THE SPACE

Zeus 2 is one of the Zeus villas at Kounali Mountain Resort: 120 m² across two floors, living space downstairs, bedrooms above, and a private pool between the terrace and the view.

For parents, the layout matters more than the decoration. The kitchen is open to the living room, so you can cook with one eye on everything else. The terrace door opens directly onto the pool, which means no crossing a resort with towels, goggles and inflatables. And because each bedroom has its own bathroom, bath time happens in parallel rather than in a queue.

Both bedrooms have queen beds. Downstairs there is a guest WC, a washing machine for the inevitable, a barbecue for the nights you stay in, air conditioning in every room, Wi-Fi, and parking behind the gate for the hire car.

Two honest notes. The villa has stairs between the floors. And the pool sits at a private house rather than behind a gate of its own — most families with small children simply keep the terrace door shut and swim together, which is what we do with ours.

WITH CHILDREN

  • Playground inside the resort, a short walk from the villa
  • Padel tennis and basketball courts, free of charge, for older children
  • The shared saltwater pool when they want other children to swim with
  • Your own pool when they want the water to themselves
  • Milatos and Sissi beaches: pebbly, calm, with tavernas on the sand
  • Nearest supermarket 15–20 minutes away in Sissi or Neapoli — shop once, properly

GUEST ACCESS

The villa, the private pool and the parking space are yours; nobody else uses them.

Also included: the resort's saltwater infinity pool and sunbeds (May to October), padel tennis, basketball, the gym, the playground and the snack bar.

Check-in from 15:00 with resort staff; check-out by 11:00. Linen and towels are provided.

INTERACTION WITH GUESTS

We have children of our own and have hosted families here for a decade, so ask us the practical questions: which beach is easiest with a pushchair, where to buy a birthday cake, how deep the pool is. We answer quickly, and the resort managers are on site during the day if anything needs fixing in person.

NEIGHBORHOOD OVERVIEW

Kounali is small enough that children can walk to the taverna and back, and quiet enough that you will not spend the evening saying sorry to anyone.

Kounali Family Taverna is 200 m up the lane, run by the same family since 1921: a genuinely short walk home after dinner, with no one having to drive.

The coast is ten to fifteen minutes by car. Milatos has a long pebbly beach and harbour tavernas; Sissi has small coves and a waterfront full of places to eat; Malia, twenty minutes away, has the big sandy beaches, supermarkets and pharmacies. Agios Nikolaos is half an hour for a day out. Heraklion airport is fifty minutes.

GETTING AROUND

A hire car from Heraklion is the practical choice: fifty minutes to the hill, the last six on bends. Two parking spaces behind the gate mean the car is never a problem.

Milatos 6 km · Sissi 10 km · Malia 17 km · Agios Nikolaos 23 km · airport 49 km.

OTHER THINGS TO NOTE

Sleeps four in two en-suite queen bedrooms; there are stairs inside the villa.

The private pool is not fenced — children must be supervised at all times.

Your own pool is available throughout your stay; the shared resort pool is seasonal (May–October).

Quiet after 23:00, please — sound travels further up here than you would think.

Pets welcome with prior agreement.
