How can I turn directory research into a shared holiday shortlist?
Keep a shared shortlist with a reason for each suggestion and a separate list of unanswered questions.
Give each suggestion a purpose
Create one shared note with the attraction's name, region and a sentence explaining its appeal. “Minoan history” or “a relaxed swimming afternoon” is more useful than a bare link because companions can judge whether the experience interests them.
Separate information into confirmed details, preferences and questions. A museum chosen for its collection still needs an operational check; a beach chosen for its scenery still needs an access check. Avoid copying unverified travel estimates into the shortlist, where they may gradually look like established facts.
Keep the list usable
Group suggestions geographically and mark each as a priority, an optional addition or a reserve. Include the source link and the date of any direct confirmation. Give one person responsibility for resolving each important question so several people do not repeat the same enquiry.
Review the shortlist together before making commitments. Remove options that no longer serve the group rather than preserving every discovery. A useful holiday shortlist supports decisions on the day; it is not a catalogue of everything you might conceivably see in Crete.
Practical considerations
- State why each place belongs on the list.
- Separate confirmed facts from open questions.
- Keep priorities and reserve options visibly distinct.
